About me.

I’m nobody! Who are you?

Are you nobody, too?

Then there ’s a pair of us — don’t tell!

They ‘d banish us, you know.

How dreary to be somebody!

How public, like a frog

To tell your name the livelong day

To an admiring bog!

…

I never hear the word “escape”

Without a quicker blood,

A sudden expectation,

A flying attitude.

I never hear of prisons broad

By soldiers battered down,

But I tug childish at my bars, —

Only to fail again!

I found the phrase to every thought

I ever had, but one;

And that defies me, — as a hand

Did try to chalk the sun

I bring an unaccustomed wine

To lips long parching, next to mine,

And summon them to drink.

….

Crackling with fever, they essay;

I turn my brimming eyes away,

And come next hour to look.

This is my letter to the world,

    That never wrote to me, —

lines from selected poems of Emily Dickinson

..setting a fancifully impossible standard for this humble blog

I am afraid that these lines do not reflect truth so much as my attraction to the words themselves. But then, that is a kind of truth as well!

I really enjoyed the selection of poems you have here on your blog, and I can’t help but wonder if you also write poetry.

None that I consider worthy. Thanks so much for the comment, though!
